Small Brush Fire Breaks Out In The Cajon Pass; Quickly Contained By Firefighters

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A two acre brush fire was quickly contained by firefighters Tuesday evening burning through some brush next to the train tracks in the Cajon Pass.

The fire dubbed the Crest Fire was reported at about 5:40pm Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Located near the train tracks and about a couple hundred feet away from southbound Interstate 15 between Highway 138 and the truck escape ramp. (canadianpharmacy365.net)

US Forest Service, CAL Fire, and San Bernardino County Fire Department firefighters were quickly on scene. The fire had consumed about 2 acres. At one point the fire could have potential for 50+ acres.

The winds were gusting about 5 to 10 mph in medium brush. Three helicopters and two airtankers were called to the scene to do some drops on the fire.

Crews were able to stop the forward progress at roughly 6:45pm.

Firefighters will be remain in the area for mop-up operations for serval hours and to make sure no hot spots flare up. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Final Update on the fire burned 2.3 acres. One Forest Service engine is checking the area today. Cause of fire remains under investigation.

The 15 freeway wasn’t affected by the fire.
