Semi Crash Causes Full Traffic Jam On I-15 In Fontana

FONTANA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A semi tractor-trailer plowed into guardrail on the I-15 near Sierra Avenue in Fontana causing major delays during Thursday afternoon.

California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino Fire Department received calls of a rollover crash. It was reported on northbound Interstate 15 just after the Sierra Ave. exit. The crash happened at about 10:18am Thursday on December 22, 2022.

It’s still unknown how the driver of the semi veered off the roadway into the center divider on at an unknown rate of speed. The semi driver was able to miss passing vehicles and plowed into about 100 feet of guardrail, then rolled over on its side.

Nearby drivers were able to pull the semi driver from the cab before the semi-truck caught fire. No injurie’s were reported. The semi was reported to be fully loaded with office equipment. CHP issued a SIG Alert for the fast lane for six more hours as of 2pm. As of 3pm traffic is backedup about 12 miles.

At this point, it’s not known why the semi veered off the road. The driver may have some kind of medical issue or fell asleep.
