Small Brush Fire Next To Silverwood Lake Broke-Out On Mother’s Day

SILVERWOOD LAKE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A two acre brush fire was quickly contained by firefighters Sunday afternoon burning through some heavy brush near Highway 138 next to the lake parking lot. (Photo above is credit by Allie Allison)

The fire dubbed the Silverwwod Fire was reported at about 4:28pm Sunday, May 14, 2023. The located of the fire was in the Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, near the lake.

With help from CAL Fire Department, San Bernardino National Forest Fire Department, and San Bernardino County Fire Department firefighters were quickly on scene. The fire had consumed about two acres. At one point the fire could have potential for 10+ acres with slow rate of spread.

The fire is currently burning in Parking Lot 4. Park Rangers with firefighter are on scene. We are urging visitors to stay away from Cleghorn Beach area. Visitors will be notified if evacuation protocols occur.

Crews were able to stop the forward progress at roughly two hours.

Firefighters will be remain in the area for mop-up operations make sure no hot spots flare up. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
