SAN BERNARDINO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Three people were killed in a multi-vehicle collision that left two other people injured on Interstate 215 late Saturday night. (Photo above is credit by Arlene Ramirez)
The collision occurred on the northbound I-215 just before the University Parkway exit at around 11:26pm September 14, 2024, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Multiple vehicles including a Toyota Corolla sedan with damaged beyond recognition with a semi tractor trailer. The other vehicles involved in the collision were a burgundy-colored Acura MDX SUV, and a black Dodge Ram Dully pickup truck, thats the vehicles recovered at the accident scene.
CHP said, a semi tractor-trailer was on the right shoulder of north I-215 when the driver of the Corolla veered into the back of the semi. This cause the Corolla to lose control and go back into the traffic lanes then was hit again by a passing Dodge Ram pickup truck. The contact cause two people to become ejected from the Corolla.
Responding officers found two bodies in the roadway – one in the right lane and one in the middle lane – and a third individual was found inside the Corolla that rear-ended in the back of a semi tractor-trailer at high speeds, a spokesperson stated.
All three were pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other victims were transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.
CHP officials could not confirm if speed or impairment were factors in the collision.
