CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A semi-tractor trailer on southbound Interstate 15 went off the roadway early Monday afternoon, through a guardrail, down an embankment. (Photo above is credit by Alex Gomez)
The crash occurred on southbound I-15 about a mile after the Cleghorn Road exit at about 12:17pm, Monday, November 25, 2024.
The male driver of the semi reportedly veered off the roadway went through the guardrail then and went over the side
The driver of the semi, was able to make his up the steep embankment by San Bernardino County Fire crews using a high angle rescue rope technique.
The driver reported to have minor injuries.
With multiple heavy duty tow trucks were at the scene trying to determine the best way to pull the semi-tractor trailer up the embankment. It was reported the semi was at least 500 feet down the embankment and unknown what’s being hauled inside. Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol said, they will likely need to shut down at least one to two lanes of freeway during that effort.
Traffic was reported jammed all the way to the Main Street exit in Hesperia, that’s over 15 miles long.
It wasn’t immediately determined what may have caused the crash. We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at the time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Inland Office.
