SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Brightline West announces more updates to field investigation work in Southern California within the proposed rail corridor within Interstate 15 right-of-way. Field work began in January to advance final stages of design in preparation for a groundbreaking. Brightline West will connect Las Vegas and Southern California with America’s first true high-speed rail system.
Field investigation work includes geotechnical borings and samplings, utility potholing and land surveying. Work will take place primarily during daytime hours, with some work at night to minimize disruption to traffic. In some instances, short term closures of freeway shoulders will be required. All work will be done in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and in coordination with Caltrans and the Nevada Department of Transportation.
This week’s project areas are listed below. Motorists should proceed with extra caution through work zones and adhere to posted detour signs, speed limits, and other signage.
Near Muriel Dr. (I-15): Potholing will take place near Muriel Dr. This will take place on Tuesday June 3, 2025, 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Shoulder closure is needed.
Near Stoddard Wells Rd: Potholing will be near Stoddard Wells Rd and Mojave Dr. This will occur on Wednesday June 4, 2025, 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Shoulder closure is needed.
Near Mojave Dr. (I-15): Potholing will be near Stoddard Wells Rd and Mojave Dr. This will occur on Thursday-Friday June 5-6, 2025, 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Shoulder closure is needed
Devore (I-15): Geotechnical borings will be performed at night in the Devore area on the I-15 northbound exterior shoulder near Glen Helen Road, on Monday, June 2, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
North of Sierra Ave. on the (I-15): Pavement cores will be performed on the I-15 northbound interior shoulder north of Sierra Avenue, and on the northbound and southbound exterior shoulders at Victoria, on Monday, June 2, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Baker Road/ N. of Dale Evans Parkway): Pavement cores will be performed on the I-15 northbound interior shoulders, near Baker Road and 1.5 miles north of Dale Evans Parkway, on Tuesday, June 3, from 9 p.m. to 5.a.m.
Devore (I-15): Geotechnical borings will be performed in Devore on the I-15 northbound exterior shoulder, vehicle pull out area, and below the freeway on the Cajon access road, approximately 1-1/2 mile south of the Cajon Blvd. overcrossing bridge, starting Tuesday, June 3 through Friday, June 6, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Foothill Blvd. (I-15): Infiltration tests will be performed on the I-15 at Foothill Blvd in the gore areas of the southbound on-ramp and off-ramps, in the gore area of the Sierra Avenue northbound on-ramp, and at Glen Helen Parkway gore area of the southbound off-ramp, starting Wednesday, June 4 through Friday, June 6, from 7a.m. to 5 p.m.
Oak Hill Road/ N. of Bear Valley Road: Geotechnical cores will be performed in the freeway median, between k-rail concrete barriers, from Oak Hill Road moving north towards Bear Valley Road, starting Monday June 2, through Friday, June 6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wild Wash Channel/ Southbound (I-15): Geotechnical borings will be performed in the Wild Wash Channel on the southbound I-15 shoulder on Friday, June 6, from 7a.m. to 5 p.m.
