Thousands of Aluminum Cans Spill all over Southbound 15 Freeway near the JPOE Facility on Monday

MOUNTAIN PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Aluminum cans were littered across southbound Interstate 15 near the Mountain Pass Joint Port of Entry Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility on Monday.

California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Fire, and assist from Clark County Fire said the crash occurred on the northbound I-15 lanes around 5:10pm June 16, 2025. The driver of the semi tractor-trailer lost control rolled over in the center divider and spilled pallets of cans across all three lanes on the southbound side.

As a result, thousands of the aluminum cans were scattered across the freeway, forcing authorities to shut down the lanes in the area to clear the debris.

One person was taken to a hospital as a result.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Barstow Office.
