HIGH DESERT, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Unsettled weather will be moving towards Southern California on Thursday and Friday.
A ridge of high pressure will shift towards the east into the high desert and the mountain area that could bring a slight chance of rain showers and or pop-up thunderstorms.
The first major monsoon weather of the season will arrive Thursday through the weekend, boosting precipitation chances by each day and bringing a brief rain showers, wind, and of pop-up weather to the higher terrain.
For Thursday afternoon and Friday, various area of the high desert and the mountains of the forecast area will see different weather that could impact you. Some may see partly sunny skies, gusty winds, scattered chances of rain showers, or all the above weather.
We have posted the timing of the storm for the Inland Empire, the Cajon Pass, the mountains area, and the high desert. This is a slight chance of thunderstorms.
Timing for Inland Empire/Cajon Pass. Rain showers could start around 12pm-5pm Thursday afternoon and Friday. The Cajon Pass/foothills could get about a trace to no rain. The Inland Empire cities could get no rain to a inch+ of rain; each city will vary.
Timing of the storms for the High Desert. The scattered rain showers could start around 1pm-6pm of the high desert cities each days. Cities could get no rain to an inch+ of rain.
Timing of the storms for Wrightwood Mountain area/San Bernardino Mountain. Light rain showers could start around 12pm-6pm each days. Cities could get no rain to an inch+ of rain.
Gusting winds can produce 40 to 60+ mph in the region, that can make a dust storm.
The peak time of an afternoon pop-up thunderstorm can start before 11am to 5pm and can last until 8pm with the heat in the air.
The heaviest downpours can have the potential to bring a quick 1-2 inches of rain. The risk for localized flash flooding is low to moderate, but cannot be ruled out because the ground is dry and in the burn scars areas.
