CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A vehicle pursuit that began in Ventura County ended in San Bernardino County, in the Cajon Pass early Wednesday morning.
The pursuit that began around 10pm on Tuesday night December 16, 2025 in Ventura County. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pursuit started after officers attempted to stop the SUV for no license plates and no headlights activated.
The driver fled southbound on the 101 Freeway, later turning on headlights and hazard lights once a CHP helicopter was overhead.
The pursuit continued through the San Fernando Valley, where CHP attempted multiple spike strip deployments. One early attempt was unsuccessful a later spike strip was reported as successful, however the driver continued fleeing despite damaged tires.
CHP continued its pursuit as the suspect went through Hollywood, Echo Park and downtown L.A.
The chase came to an end on northbound Interstate 15 just after the Highway 138 exit, when the suspect turns around and went the wrong-way on the 15 freeway.
That’s where the suspect vehicle crash into a CHP patrol vehicle The collision cause the suspect vehicle to become disabled and the CHP vehicle went down the embankment.
The suspect was taken into custody around midnight.
A CHP officer was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. No other injuries were reported.
