DETROIT, MI. (Pain In The Pass) >> Toyota is recalling 48,280 trucks because of a problem that can cause the external oil reservoir to detach. The recall applies to certain 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid and 2024-25 Tacoma trucks according by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall is necessary because the front and rear shock absorbers can corrode and fail over time. If that happens, it can cause the reservoir to detach, creating a road hazard for other motorists and increasing the risk of a crash.
Toyota says based on its records there have been 20 Toyota field reports and 62 warranty claims made related to the issue. No injuries or crashes were mentioned in the NHTSA documents.
To correct the issue, affected owners will bring their vehicle to a dealership where the front and rear shock absorber assemblies will be inspected. If necessary, dealers will replace the parts at no cost to the owner.
Impacted owners are expected to receive recall notices between Sept. 21 and Oct. 5, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota’s customer service at 1-800-331-4331 for more information.
