FONTANA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A High Wind Warning for Saturday February 20, 2021, and Sunday. A cool Santa Ana Wind Event for the Inland Empire Valleys locations, mountains and the Cajon Pass.

Southern California Weather Force Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the San Bernardino County mountains includes North Fontana/San Bernardino and the Cajon Pass. With winds blowing around 40-50 mph with max wind gust at or around 60 mph.

Wind intensity level maps is below (8 is the strongest gust to a 1 is weak).

Hazardous driving conditions are possible for high-profile vehicles. Especially big rigs and or high-profile vehicles that are empty have a chance to tip-over along the 15 freeway, 210 freeway in Fontana and the 215 freeway in San Bernardino/Devore area.

Be aware and maintain safe distances from other vehicles near you, especially box trucks, buses and semi’s. These vehicles could move out of there lanes or flip over on there side and hit your car in sudden gusts. Please drive safe in the wind!

Watch for objects that could potentially blow into the roadway. Tree limbs may break and other debris may come loose during strong gusty winds.

Those in the wind areas should secure loose items including trash cans, BBQ and patio furniture now.

Residents and drivers should remain vigilant for downed trees and power lines.

Power maybe turned off Saturday and Sunday due to the gusty winds. If you come across an intersection with traffic signals without power, approach it as a four-way stop.

The shutoff of power is designed to reduce the risk of fires caused by electrical equipment when strong winds are forecast. Several large fires in California have been linked to electrical equipment.

SCE customers can sign up for alerts to let them know if the power will be shut off.
