Caltrans Preparing The Cajon Pass and Hwy 138 For The Winter Storm Coming In

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Caltrans District 8 is planning ahead of the new winter storms.

Tuesday afternoon Caltrans maintenance crews where preparing by spreading de-icing fluid (brine) along Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass and Highway 138. They put down the fluid on all traffic lanes both directions from the top of the Cajon Pass Oak Hill Road down to the Highway 138.

The de-icing fluid is to prevent ice from forming on the freeway. Yes Black Ice.

The latest Weather updates they are forecasting is around less than 2 inches ice/snow showers in the Cajon Pass Wednesday into Thursday morning. Snow level will drop to about 2,000 feet at times.

Just Remember to Slow Down and use caution when driving in the Cajon Pass, the freeways, and highways. Also reminder have your headlight on in the rain and fog so people can see you.
