Felony Warrant Suspect Arrested After Leading Authorities On A Chase In The Cajon Pass

HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A felony warrant suspect was arrested along with another suspect. The two lead police on a high-speed then slow speed chase in and around the Cajon Pass area Monday afternoon.

Monday, March 29, 2021, at approximately 11:57 am deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s station were conducting a follow-up investigation in the area of Caliente Road and Oak Hill Road. The suspect, William McKay age 52, had a felony warrant for his arrest regarding a prior kidnapping investigation. Deputies attempted a traffic stop on the suspects vehicle, a red/ burgundy GMC Sierra pick up truck. The suspect failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Abrianna Gonzalez age 24.

The pursuit continued southbound on Interstate 15. The suspect exited at the Highway 138 traveling towards Hesperia/Sliverwood Lake. Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) were requested and were assisting in the pursuit. A spike strip was deployed on Hwy 138, disabling the suspects tires.

The pursuit came to a stop and suspects exited the vehicle and tried to flee. The suspects stopped off of Hwy 138 on Cleghorn Road by Sliverwood Lake when a CHP K-9 was deployed as the suspects were attempting to flee. One suspect, Abrianna Gonzalez, stabbed the K-9 before being taken into custody. The driver William McKay was taken into custody without further incident.

Sheriff’s Aviation Air Rescue 306 responded to the location and transported the K-9 to a Veterinarian Hospital where he is undergoing emergency surgery.

William Shae McKay and Abrianna Valerie Gonzalez were both arrested and will be booked into the High Desert Detention Center.

Update on the CHP K9 named Sam is out of surgery and in recovery. Vet says he is expected to survive. He suffered one stab wound to the chest. “This was a severe injury however, we expect Sam will make a full recovery.
