BIG BEAR, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> San Bernardino National Forest Fire crews are schedule to prescribed burn (under a controlled burn) in the Big Bear area in the San Bernardino National Forest this week. 

A total of 229 acres will be targeted south of the city of Big Bear Lake. Smoke will be visible each day scheduled. The Osito area (total of 165 acres) and Deer (total of 21 acres) burns will be located south of both Camp Osito (2N17) and the west end of Knickerbocker (2N08) roads. The Dickies Burn (total of 43 acres) will be south of Big Bear Village off Mid Section (2N51Y) and the east end of Knickerbocker Roads (2N08). Click to see the map and details.

Reporting at least three days of burning are scheduled to begin Tuesday morning through the night of April 20, if the weather conditions are safe for a productive control fire burn. The weather reports are predicted overnight relative humidity to be high and expected limit smoke dispersion into the communities, but resident and visitors should be aware the smell and see smoke may be noticeable next week.

Smoke and flames may be visible from the Big Bear area and on Highway 18 throughout each day/night. Please don’t call 911 to report smoke or flames in this area. Firefighter are there working. Thank you.
