BARSTOW, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A train passing through the Johnston Corner near the city of Barstow, crashed into a semi tractor on Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened at around 12:22pm on Hinkley Rd close to Route 66 Main Street. The train involved belongs to the BNSF Railway.

There was no one onboard at the time of the crash and no one was injured in the collision. The semi burst into flames after the collision. The locomotive reported to have damage to one of the fuel tanks and was leaking diesel fuel on the ground.

The crash prompted several hours of closure on Hinkley Road due to the cleanup but is expected to reopen Thursday night. Authorities were still working to clear the scene and it could be a while before the track and road are cleared. If you are driving in the area, you will want to take a different route.

The incident remains under investigation. From the CHP traffic log stated the truck was stuck on the train crossing.
