LAS VEGAS, NV. (Pain In The Pass) >> Las Vegas Metropolitan Police has ID an 8-year-old boy found dead in some brush near a trail in Mountain Springs on Friday morning and have issued an Amber Alert for the boy’s brother Saturday morning.

LVMPD Lt. Ray Spencer said the mother saw the sketch of the boy released Friday afternoon, and identified the boy as her 8-year-old son. The Clark County Coroner showed the mother photos of the boy, and she made a positive identification.

Spencer said the boy was last seen with his biological father. The father then picked up the 11-year-old boy’s half-brother Eden Montes. LVMPD issued an multi-state Amber Alert this morning to find the boy. Eden is described by police as Hispanic with brown hair and brown eyes, around 5-feet tall and 110 pounds. He was last wearing an unknown-colored t-shirt with “Vans” on it, khaki-colored pants and black tennis shoes with the wording “Champion” on them. He was also wearing a black Raiders hat.

The suspect, the boys’ father, is 37-year-old Jose Montes-Herrera. He is described by police as a 37-year-old Hispanic man with black hair and brown eyes, approximately 5-feet 9-inches tall and 225 pounds. He is driving a 2015 white GMC Sierra pickup truck with Nevada license plate LV UOOX maybe pulling a travel trailer checkerboard pattern on the sides/rear..

Update 2, Police say a woman mistakenly identified the boy found dead near Mountain Springs as her own son. Her son was later located with his half-brother and father in Utah safely. The child found near Mountain Springs has yet to be identified.
