Small Brush Fire In Hesperia Next To Highway 138 Monday Afternoon

HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Firefighters quickly gaining control a small brush fire that broke out off of Highway 138.

The Alatar Incident was reported at about 2pm, on Monday, May 16, 2022, just south of Highway 138 near Silverwood Lake in the Summit Valley/Little Horsethief Canyon area.

San Bernardino National Forest Fire Department with help from San Bernardino County, and Cal Fire firefighters were quickly on scene. The winds were gusting about 20 mph in heavy brush. One helicopter and a airtanker were called to the scene to do some drops.

Structures were threatened but no evacuation orders or road closures at this time.

At 3pm the fire had forward progression stopped at about 3 acres burned. Firefighters will remain in the area for mop-up operations though the night to make sure no hot spots flare up. The highway was never affected. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

5pm updated acreage is 7 and a half acres burned.

Wednesday afternoon the fire is 100% contained.
