NASCAR Is Back In SoCal, Could Lead To Heavy Traffic In Fontana On Sunday

FONTANA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Expect lots of traffic on Sunday morning around the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana for the NASCAR Cup race and the Xfinity Series that was rain out on Saturday. From 8am to the start of the race around 12 noon and then at the end of the race is around 3pm – 4pm. The second race will start and should finish around 6pm or so. Traffic will be the worst on Cherry Ave. from Interstate 10 in Fontana during these times.

There is no major road closures planned around Auto Club Speedway this weekend.

EXPECT DELAYS on Cherry Ave. in the morning and late afternoon, traffic maybe backup on the 10 freeway in Fontana.

Officials advise a better route to the Speedway may be from the north. Drivers can get off of the 210 Freeway at Cherry Avenue and head south to the race track.

Instead of the Cherry exit off the 10 freeway, spectators can also get off the 15 Freeway at 4th Avenue (4th Ave. becomes San Bernardino Ave.) and head east to Cherry Ave, take a left at Cherry Ave. going north to the race track.

Or, from the 15 freeway, commuters could get off at Foothill Blvd, head east to Cherry, take a right going south to the race track.

If you are going to the race arriving early is the better way to avoid traffic, parking gates open at 7am.

If you are not going to the race, use the 60 or 210 freeways to get around the traffic delay on the 10 freeway.
