HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> At least no one was serious injured after a SUV impacts multiple attenuator (traffic sand barrels) on northbound Interstate 15 Sunday morning.
California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department received calls of two collisions on northbound I-15 just after the Ranchero Road exit. The first crash reported happened at about 4:27 am Sunday, March 12, 2023.
CHP said due to roadwork in the area a silver SUV was headed northbound when the driver lost control struck into multiple attenuator/sand barrels, that protects the lane closed in place between Ranchero Rd. and Joshua Street exits. The bypass lanes have two lanes to the left and two lanes to the right with a center guardrail around the middle to repaving that traffic lane.
The second collision was reported in the traffic backup that the freeway was closed for about a hour. The two vehicles involved in the crash were listed on the CHP traffic log. A dark blue colored small compact sport utility vehicle lost control a veered into a UPS tractor trailer. Just minor damage to the car and the trailer were reported.
No injuries were reported in both incidents, just traffic backed up for miles. We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Victorville Office.
