Swift Water Rescue Saves A Driver In A Wash In The Cajon Pass Tuesday Morning

CAJON PASS, CA (Pain In The Pass) >> San Bernardino County Fire Department firefighters made a swift water rescue in the Cajon Pass Tuesday morning as heavy rain fell in the area, causing flooding. 

The incident occurred at around 11:13am March 21, 2023. San Bernardino County firefighters received a call of a dark colored SUV in a wash with rapidly moving water surrounding the SUV near Swarthout Canyon Road and Cajon Blvd. The vehicle was dragged about 300 feet down the creek before hitting some trees and became stuck.

The sole occupant was successfully removed from vehicle by SBCoFD swiftwater rescue team. Driver was being evaluated by paramedics for hypothermia.

Remember Turn Around Don’t Drown. Flash flooding can happen suddenly and with little warning. Never attempt to cross a flooded road. If you cannot see the pavement, find a safer route or method of travel!
