The crash happened around 1:35pm Friday January 26, 2024. The California Highway Patrol says a male driver, was driving a white Ford Econoline E350 work van when he rear-ended a white Toyota Camry with two adults and two children inside on Phelan Rd..

San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the Toyota with major rear-end damage and the van with front end damage on the shoulder of the roadway.

Rescue crew tending to all the patients involved in the collision, but sadly the two children in the back seat of the Toyota succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The driver and front passenger of the Toyota were transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.. The driver of the van was not injured in the collision.

According to preliminary reports, the Toyota was traveling westbound on Phelan Rd., slowing down to make a left turn onto Nevada Road, when for reasons that are still unknown, the driver of the Ford Van rear-ended the Toyota Camry at or above speed limit speeds.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
