LLANO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Four people are injured as the result of a head-on crash on Highway 18 near the town of Llano Sunday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol. (Photo above is credit by Don Luis Meza.)
California Highway Patro, and Los Angeles County Fire Department, and San Bernardino County Fire Department received calls of a two-vehicle head on crash. The crash was reported to be on Highway 18 near 248 Street east of Llano. The collision happened at about 4:18pm Sunday, April 21, 2024.
The vehicles involved were a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with major front-end damage and a dark gray Toyota Corolla sedan with major front-end damage. Both vehicles were blocking both lanes of travel.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they had a total of four people and dog to rendered first aid. Rescue crews requested two medical helicopters to land at the scene to transport the two critical injured.
Los Angeles County Fire-Hawk Air 22 helicopter airlifted one patient to Antelope Valley Medical Center. The other patient was airlifted by Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Air Rescue 5 helicopter to Pomona Valley Hospital.
The two other people had moderate injuries and were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. A dog was traveling in one of the vehicles was reported to be injured and the LA County Animal Control was able to take the dog to be check out.
The roadway was shut down in both directions for hours for the investigators.
