HIGHLAND, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Many people across the Apple and Lucerne Valley are noticing the smoky and a haze skies in the area. Officials said Friday that it’s due to brush fire in the San Bernardino National Forest Mountain range below Running Springs. 

According to the CAL FIRE the Line Fire incident was reported in the city of Highland on Baseline Street and Apline St. just before 6pm on Thursday Septmeber 6, 2024.

Evacuation Warning – Set From East Church St. east to the east city limit and south of the foothills to Greenspot Rd.

At 7:20pm Thursday night the fire was 172 acres with moderate rate of spread.

Update at 6am Friday with updated mapping, the fire is 750 acres burning up in the national forest land.

No injuries had been reported at this time and structures are threatened Thursday night into Friday morning, said a spokesperson for the fire department.

Dispatchers have said, they have received a high volume of calls about the smoke. The afternoon winds are bringing smoke to the area. With multiple fires in Southern California, the Line Fire is the one that is contributing to the smoky conditions.

The cause of the Line Fire remains under investigation.
