CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Drivers across the San Bernardino Mountains and Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass is facing hazardous conditions Wednesday night into Thursday morning as a Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9am Thursday morning.
Visibility is expected to drop to a quarter-mile or less in many areas, particularly along the the top of the Cajon Pass and Highway 138. Commuters are urged to drive with extreme caution during this time.
According to the Pain In The Pass Weather man, the advisory impacts the Cajon Pass, and Phelan area of Hwy 138. The dense fog has already reduced visibility, making it challenging for drivers to navigate. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles. This advisory, issued early Wednesday night into Thursday morning, is expected to clear later in the morning as the fog dissipates and temperatures rise.
Looking ahead, Inland Empire Valley/Cajon Pass is set to experience partly sunny skies by the afternoon, with a high near or at 70°F Thursday. More fog is in the forecast for Thursday night into Friday morning. The weekend outlook remains mostly sunny with warm temperatures, with a weak Santa Ana Winds especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Ensure your vehicle is visible to others by using low-beam headlights, which automatically activate your taillights. Utilize fog lights if your vehicle is equipped with them. No hazard light travel on the freeway or highways.
