The truck fire was reported about 6:42pm on November 14, 2024, with the California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department were on scene to put out the fire on a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck about a mile after the Kenwood Avenue exit.

The driver of the truck parked in the center divider to check why it was smoking. A small fire was in the engine compartment. On a slope in the Cajon Pass the pickup truck started to roll backward slowly with the driver outside trying to stop the burning truck.

As the burning truck moved backward on the northbound lanes, the vehicle and the driver posed a significant danger to drivers passing.

It was reported the burning truck hit a passing vehicle cause minor damage to their vehicle.

Fortunately, the burning truck was stopped by a wall not in dry vegetation that could have started a brush fire.

The truck stopped blocking the two right lanes with the truck fully engulfed in flames.

CHP and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the two slow lane while they worked on getting the vehicle fire put out. All lanes were reopened by 8pm.

No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time.
