APPLE VALLEY, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while attempting to flee Tractor Supply Company store following an alleged shoplifting incident.

The accident happened on Saturday night, March 8, 2025, at approximately 6:49pm, deputies from the Apple Valley Police/San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Station and rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus a female pedestrian traffic crash, on Bear Valley Road and Savage Lane, in the town of Apple Valley.

Through investigation, deputies determined a red Mazda 6 sedan, driven by a 20-year-old resident of Apple Valley, drove eastbound on Bear Valley Road in the number two lane, approaching Savage Lane. The suspect was running southbound on Bear Valley Road, in the roadway, across all lanes of travel when the Mazda struck the pedestrian from the front. The suspect also was reported to have been caught shoplifting from Tractor Supply store just prior to the crash and fled the location on foot after the stolen property was recovered near the crash scene.

The suspect has been ID as Ariona Jackson, a 33-year-old resident of Victorville suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. She was later flown to a nearby trauma center for advanced care. Jackson later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The driver of the Mazda was uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation. The 20-year-old female driver, a resident of Apple Valley had major damage to her Mazda sedan. With help from friends and family they have setup a GoFundMe account to help repair the car or help purchase a different vehicle.
