LUDLOW, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Two people were airlifted to a trauma center following a rollover crash on Interstate 40 Saturday morning that brought first responders racing to the scene.

It happened about 10:44am Saturday, June 7, 2025, in the westbound lanes of I-40 about 10 miles from the town of Ludlow, according to San Bernardino County Fire and Rescue officials.

When rescue crews arrived, they were met with a chaotic scene. A white Dodge Ram pickup truck with major damage from rolling over multiple time, and two people and a dog trapped inside.

Firefighters worked quickly to extricate the victims while EMS coordinated a landing zone for two Mercy Air helicopters. Mercy Air #22 airlifted one person from the crash scene to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. The other Mercy Air #66 helicopter landed on the freeway and transported the second patient to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Huge recognition for the off-duty San Diego City Firefighter/Paramedic who saw the accident and provided initial care while emergency vehicles were enroute to the crash scene.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Barstow Office.
