LUCERNE VALLEY, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Authorities shut down one lane of traffic on Highway 18 at one of the sharp turns near the Mitsubishi Cement Plant Saturday afternoon when a boat fell off a trailer and blocked part of the highway.
The incident happened on Hwy 18 about a mile from the Mitsubishi Cement Plant on July 26, 2025, about 3:45pm Saturday afternoon. It was reported that a dark gray Chevrolet Tahoe SUV was pulling a small fishing boat on a trailer. The driver was coming down the mountain from Big Bear Lake and lost control.
It’s unclear what caused the boat to dislodge from the trailer and it wasn’t immediately known if anyone was hurt.
A flatbed tow-truck was called to remove the boat from the roadway. Gas from the boat was leaking on the highway and issue a cleanup by Caltrans.
The amount of damage to the boat was also unknown.
