CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Southern California and Las Vegas travelers making plans for Christmas may want to ensure they’ll be indoors not on the freeways.
Southern California Weather Force predicting a week ago the Atmospheric River (Pineapple Express) will dump several inches of rain across most of SoCal with high snow elevation for the mountains.
The exact timing and strength of the storms will be forecast on Sunday afternoon or on Monday. Rain showers are likely to begin falling Tuesday afternoon/evening, continuing through Christmas Eve. With another chance of heavy rain showers expected on Christmas Day through Friday afternoon.
The first round of rain could drop anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of rain in many areas, with mountains receiving up to 5 inches.
The second round of rain could drop another 1 to 2½ inches, with another 4 inches possible in the mountains. Snow levels will also fall to about 6,000 feet on Thursday late afternoon/evening into Friday morning.
High Desert cities will get rain showers too, but will get strong gusty southeasterly winds that will starts on Tuesday and continuing through Christmas Day. Gusts up to 50 mph in spots.
So, if you are traveling on Christmas Eve or on Christmas Day, be prepared for the weather. The Cajon Pass should not get snow with the weather system.
