SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> As families prepare to celebrate the holidays, the California Highway Patrol reminds everyone to prioritize safety on the road. To ensure travelers stay safe this busy season, CHP is launching the first of two statewide Holiday Enforcement Periods (HEPs) this month to reduce traffic incidents by targeting unsafe driving behaviors.
The Christmas HEP begins today, December 24, at 6pm and continues until 11:59 p.m. on December 28. During this time, CHP officers will increase patrols across the state to deter dangerous driving behaviors, including impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seat belt violations. The public is also encouraged to report unsafe drivers by calling 9-1-1.
Let’s make safety our top priority this holiday season. Buckle up, drive responsibly, and if you’re celebrating, always plan for a sober ride. Thoughtful choices save lives and keep California’s roads safe for everyone!
Celebrate wisely and drive with care. Together, we can make the holidays safer for all. The CHP’s mission is to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security to all Californians.
