CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Southern California and Las Vegas travelers making plans for the New Year may want to ensure they’ll be indoors not on the freeways.
Southern California Weather Force predicting a week ago another Atmospheric River (Pineapple Express) will dump several inches of rain across most of SoCal with high snow elevation for the mountains.
The timing will happen on Wednesday New Year’s Eve evening into New Year’s Day morning.
Southern California Weather Force is saying lighter overall rain but brief heavier bands possible.
Localized flooding in normally dry washes. Again this storm could have dangerous debris flows possible in the Sheep Creek Wash in Wrightwood and in Phelan.
Strong to locally damaging winds through passes and desert slopes.
The first round of rain could drop anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of rain in many areas, with mountains receiving from 5+ inches.
The second round of rain showers will happen on Friday into Saturday and could drop more rain.
Snow Levels with this system are extremely high given it being a warmer storm system once again….
