VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A black bear roaming parts of Adelanto and Victorville streets, climbing trees, and even hopping fence over the Holidays week.
California Department of Fish and Wildlife officials tracked and returned the bear to his habitat, Victorville Mayor Liz Becerra said Monday night.
Becerra explained that wildlife officials located the bear via its tracking collar.
With the recent flash flood, wildlife can come down to look for food at any time of the year.
The first sighting was on New Year’s Eve, near Monte Vista Road and Dos Palmas Rd west of Highway 395.
Over the decades, there has been reported dozens of bear encounters in the High Desert.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife says if you encounter a black bear in your neighborhood, don’t panic and don’t run away. You should stay cautious and not approach the bear.
If a bear attacks. You need to stay calm, stand their ground, raise their arms to appear larger and speak or yell in a firm voice. Most black bears want to avoid people.
