NEWBERRY SPRINGS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A high speed pursuit in Barstow involving the California Highway Patrol ended with the suspects fleeing from the vehicle.
The pursuit started around 10pm on Monday January 19, 2026 in the Barstow area with a driver driving reckless.
The suspects traveled on eastbound Interstate 40 and exit the Newberry Springs exit. Then they stopped with multiple occupants fleeing the vehicle into the open desert and surrounding industrial area.
Utilizing infrared technology, CHP Helicopter H-82 located one suspect concealed in heavy brush. Ground units safely responded and the suspect was detained without incident.
