DEVORE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Search and rescue crews on Wednesday morning found a body believed to be a man swept away by floodwaters in Cajon Creek Tuesday night.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department said early Wednesday that the incident began around 11:23 p.m. Tuesday when deputies responded to the intersection of Keenbrook Road and Cajon Boulevard in Devore for reports of a pickup truck trying to navigate through floodwaters.
The sole occupant of the vehicle was found on the roof of his pick-up truck surrounded by rushing water. While rescue crews were accessing the scene, the victim was swept away as the truck shifted.
As of early Wednesday morning, an active search for the person was still ongoing, but the fire department later stated that “a person matching the description of the missing subject” described only as an adult male was found deceased downstream from where he was last seen just after 8am.
The name of the victim has not been released by officials.
