DEVORE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The man who died after being carried away by floodwaters in Cajon Creek riverbed was identified as a 55-year-old father on Thursday.
The incident began around 11:23pm on Tuesday February 17, 2026 when deputies responded to the intersection of Keenbrook Road near Cajon Boulevard in Devore for reports of a pickup truck trying to navigate through floodwaters.
While rescue crews were accessing the scene, the victim was swept away as the truck shifted downstream.
Edward Jozwiak resident of Muscoy was found about a mile from where rescuers first located him clinging to the roof of his truck Tuesday night as heavy flooding engulfed his truck, authorities said.
Shortly after he was discovered on Wednesday morning, his daughter took to social media to mourn her father.
His family has setup a GoFundMe to raise money for funeral cost and services.
“Tragically he was found this morning and will no longer be on this planet with us but up in heaven with my grandpa,” Vanesa Jozwiak said,
She added that her father “got stuck in a creek that is usually very mellow” while trying to get home, “but because of the weather that creek turned into a very strong moving river basically.”
