LUCERNE VALLEY, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A crash on Highway 18 claimed two lives when a car collided with a semi-truck Monday morning.
California Highway Patrol officers and San Bernardino County Fire were called to the scene of Hwy 18 near Meridian Road in Lucerne Valley at about 9:32am on March 16, 2026.
The vehicles involved in the collision was a red semi-truck pulling a set of pneumatic/dry bulk tank trailers, a silver Mercury Grand Marquis sedan, and a Jeep.
For reasons still under investigation, it looks like the driver of the Mercury lost control, crossed the centerline into the path of the semi. The semi-impact the passenger side of the sedan.
The driver and passenger of the Mercury both succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Their identities will be released after next-of-kin is notification.
We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
