SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> If you plan on celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and drink alcohol, do not rely on luck and designate a sober driver. Tuesday night March 17, 2026, the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department will conduct DUI patrols.
Law enforcement throughout San Bernardino County will increase patrols to nab people driving under the influence.
Throughout the country, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that 38% of fatal alcohol-related crashes occurred on St. Patrick’s Day. Drunk driving accounts for nearly one-third of vehicle-related fatalities in the United States, NHTSA data shows.
The public can help keep California roadways safe by calling 9-1-1 if they suspect an impaired driver. Callers should be prepared to give the vehicle’s description, location, license plate number, and direction of travel.
AAA Auto Club Tipsy Tow services will start 6 pm on Tuesday, March 17 and run through 6am Wednesday, March 18.
To take advantage of the service, you should call 1-800-400-4AAA and state that they need a Tipsy Tow. Drivers should be prepared to provide their name, home address, phone number, location, and vehicle description.
A regular Auto Club-contracted roadside service truck will be dispatched to your location. You do not have to be a AAA member to use this service.
Celebrate responsibly to help ensure everyone reaches their destination safely. Always designate a sober driver or use public transportation, rideshare services, or a taxi.
