17-Year-Old Driver Killed on Highway 395 in Head-On Collision Identified

ADELANTO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner Office has identified the driver who was killed in a head-on collision on Highway 395 Friday night.

Michael Zavala 17-year-old of Tehachapi, died at a hospital on Saturday, March 21, from injuries he suffered in the collision the previous night.

The crash was reported at about 10:50pm Friday, March 20, 2026, along Highway 395 near Chamberlaine Way.

From the traffic report said, Zavala was driving the white Dodge Ram pickup truck he veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a semi tractor-trailer.

He was flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center by Reach Air Medical helicopter, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The semi driver was transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.

This incident will be under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office.
