PINON HILLS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A devastating head-on collision in Pinon Hills has left three people dead and two others seriously injured after two vehicles collided on Highway 18/Palmdale Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at about 7:50pm on Saturday, May 9, 2026, on Hwy 18/Palmdale Road near Minero Rd. The two vehicles involved in the crash was a silver Honda Odyssey minivan and a black Jeep Wrangler.
California Highway Patrol Officers said, the Honda was traveling eastbound on Hwy 18 while the Jeep was traveling westbound when both vehicles collided at an unknown speed.
San Bernardino County Fire responded with five people inside the Honda and one person in the Jeep. Firefighters said, confirmed three fatalities at the scene. They called for two medical helicopters to land at the crash site.
Two people from the Honda sustained serious injuries and were airlifted from Mercy Air #22 sub helicopter and Reach Air Medical #43 helicopter to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Officials said all three fatalities were occupants of the Honda.
The driver of the Jeep was transported by ground ambulance and was reported to be minor injuries.
