CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The California Highway Patrol says it made 1,179 DUI arrest during its 2026 Memorial Day Weekend Maximum Enforcement Period.
CHP officers focused on one simple goal, saving lives through seat belt safety.
During the Holiday Enforcement Period, CHP officers issued 2,172 seat belt citations to drivers and passengers who chose not to buckle up. While citations are never the goal, every stop was an opportunity to prevent a tragedy.
Seat belts remain one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself and your loved ones on the road. No matter how short the trip is, buckle up every time.

- 49,624 Enforcement Actions
- 38,348 Total Citations
- 466 Drivers Over 100 mph
Last Memorial Day weekend, they said just over 1,100 drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
