California Gas Prices are the Most and we have Posted Average Across the US

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Gas prices are still hitting hard across California and the US.

Here are the states paying the most at the pump right now as of 5/31/26 average price per gallon for regular gasoline.

Analysts say several factors are driving the increase. Blockades by the US and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz — a key global oil transit route that carries an estimated 20% of the world’s oil — have raised global supply concerns.

Spring typically brings a switch to a more expensive summer fuel blend.

AAA recommends keeping gas tank levels above a quarter full to cushion against sudden price spikes, and paying with cash when available, as some stations charge more for credit card transactions.

Experts say apps like GasBuddy and Google can show prices at the pump before you leave the house, making it easier to find the best price near you.
