Four Patients including Two CHP Officers were rush to a Local Hospital after a Crash Thursday Night in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Two California Highway Patrol officers and two civilians were injured in a major traffic collision Thursday night in Victorville

At approximately 8pm on June 11, 2006 on Hook Boulevard at Cobalt Road. With help from multiple agencies at the scene, including Victorville Fire Department, CHP, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department,

The two-vehicle involved in the collision was a black and white Dodge Charger patrol car and a silver Mercedes-Benz unknown model sedan.

Four ambulances were requested for the four patients, including two CHP officers and two civilians. The extent of all the injuries is unknown at this time.

According to preliminary information from the scene, witnesses reported a vehicle sped away from a traffic stop moments before the collision. However, official details have not yet been released, and the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Victorville Office.

Update on what happened, just before 8pm CHP officers tried to conduct a traffic stop on the silver Mercedes-Benz for a traffic violation on Hopland Street near El Evado Road in the city of Victorville, the highway patrol said in a press release issued on Friday night. 

The driver, later identified as 23-year-old Cantor Yahancy, initially yielded but then fled, leading officers on a “brief” pursuit, the CHP release explains.

While traveling south on Cobalt Road, entered the intersection with Hook Boulevard and the driver of the Mercedes collided with a CHP unit going westbound.

“At the time of the crash, CHP officers were no longer actively pursuing the suspect vehicle,” CHP stated in the media release.

Yahancy, a Victorville resident, and an unidentified passenger suffered major injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment.

Both CHP officers were taken to a regional trauma center with major injuries, officials confirmed. They are expected to make a full recovery.

Yahancy has been charged with DUI causing injury and felony evading a peace officer. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues, from the CHP media release.
