PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A semi-truck hauling hay overturned Wednesday afternoon on a downward curve off of Highway 138 onto Sheep Creek Road.
The wreck occurred 3:06pm on June 17, 2026 on Sheep Creek Rd in the town of Phelan.
It looks like the truck’s load of hay shifted as the driver attempted to negotiate downhill curve, probably going to fast for the curve, causing him to lose control.
The truck rolled over, coming to rest up at the edge of the pavement.
The semi driver was not injured.
No other vehicles were involved.
Authorities closed the road for most of the afternoon and evening following the cleanup and to tow the semi away.
We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
