AMBOY, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A 16-year-old girl was killed and the driver was injured after a crash on Route 66 National Trails Highway Thursday afternoon.
The crash occurred at about 4:48pm on June 18, 2026 on National Trails Highway near Amboy Road and the train tracks in the town of Amboy.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after an iPhone alert was reported. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle caught fire following the crash. Initial reports indicate that an occupant was extracted from the vehicle, but the situation quickly escalated as the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames.
Despite the efforts from first responders, CPR was reportedly administered on-site on the passenger, Regina Mamta, a 16-year-old resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, succumbed to her injuries.
The driver was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist in the investigation to come forward.
The incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Barstow Office.
