VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The California Highway Patrol is investigating a head-on wrong-way crash that left two people with serious injuries on northbound Interstate 15 in the city of Victorville Sunday morning.
The crash was reported at or about 6am on August 2, 2026, on the northbound I-15 freeway just before the Palmdale Road exit. Two right lanes were blocked by the collision.
The two vehicles reported in the collision was a sliver Nissan Versa sedan and a red VinFast VF8 an all-electric midsize crossover vehicle.
According to the CHP Traffic Log the driver of the Nissan was traveling the wrong way on the northbound Interstate 15 after entering the freeway from the Palmdale Road on-ramp in the opposing direction. The driver crashed head-on with the driver of the VinFast in the slow lane.
Victorville Fire Department were called to the scene to rescue both drivers, it took firefighters about 20 minutes or so to free the driver of the Nissan from the wreckage.
The conditions of the two hospitalized drivers were not available at this time.
This causes a full closure of the northbound lanes of I-15 while emergency crews treated the injured, investigate, and to cleanup and remove the vehicles from freeway from the scene.
The fast lane was open around 7am and all lanes were reopened at 7:39am.
