LUCERNE VALLEY, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Two people were airlifted to a trauma center following a two-vehicle head-on crash on Highway 18 in Lucerne Valley Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to Highway 18 near Meridian Road at about 11:42am August 25, 2026.
Witnesses reported that the two vehicles collided head-on.
They arrived to find two vehicles heavily damaged and one off the road. The two vehicles were involved was a white BMW X series SUV and a red semi tractor-trailer hauling cement powder in the Pneumatic/Dry Bulk set of doubles-trailers.
Medical helicopters were summoned after discovering both drivers were “critically injured,” the report states.
Rescues personnel worked together to reach both drivers and provide medical care. The semi driver had to be removed from the vehicle.
Mercy Air #2 helicopter landed at Pioneer Park and transported to Arrowhead Medical Center in Colton. Mercy Air from Big Bear Fire Department landed at the crash scene and transported the driver from the BMW to Loma Linda University Hospital.
Additional information about the both drivers’ injuries was not immediately available at this time.
