PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> CAL FIRE will be conducting live fire shift training exercises on November 8 and 9 from 8:30am to 4pm at the fire station on Phelan Road and Centola Road.
Department personnel have used this structure for simulated rescue scenarios, tactical and strategic deployment drills, and other fireground readiness training.
These upcoming full-scale live fire simulations will provide firefighters with valuable opportunities to practice, evaluate, and refine firefighting techniques under realistic conditions. Additional training components will include civilian rescue, firefighter rescue operations, use for training.
Following these training burns, crews will prepare the structure for controlled burn scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, beginning at approximately 9am. Fire department personnel will remain on-site throughout the event until it is deemed safe.
The fire department says that live burns are critical training, as they give the fire department the chance to practice how to fight fires safely.
It also notes that those who live in the area may want to take the following action while the burning is taking place:
