CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> An illegal fireworks show right on the right shoulder of Interstate 15 freeway in the Cajon Pass was caught on camera.
This incident had about 6pm Sunday June 28, 2026, on southbound I-15 just after the Cleghorn Road exit on the right shoulder turn out.
This is so dangerously close to nearby dry vegetation this could have been bad quickly with a fast-moving brush fire with the afternoon gusty winds.
The week of the Fourth of July holiday is very hard for firefighters and a scary one for commuters driving on the roadways and for homeowners.
At this time California Highway Patrol says no arrests from this incident so far.

Fines for shooting fireworks in or near brush range from $500 to over $50,000, with severe cases often leading to county jail time (up to one year). If a firework sparks a brush fire, the responsible party is held financially and criminally liable for the damages.
ALL fireworks are strictly prohibited in the San Bernardino National Forrest, all mountain cities, and the Cajon Pass.
