ADELANTO, CA. ( Pain In The Pass) >> A man led California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park officers on a pursuit for over an hour after reportedly taken without permission early Sunday morning.
According to CHP, they attempted to pull over the vehicle before 2am on July 12, 2026.
The suspect was traveling northbound on Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass is when a second vehicle playing interference with the officers behind the suspect’s vehicle.
This triggered a second pursuit. The black Hyundai SUV, believed to be driven by the father of the original suspect. They stopped on northbound 15 freeway in the city of Hesperia. An adult male and a female driver were both detained on the freeway
The original suspect continues on traveling. Just after 3am the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot near Wakefield Street and Daisy Road in the city of Adelanto. Officers established a perimeter in the area and stood by a residence, where the suspect was believed to be heading.
A “active” search into the morning, but the suspect’s location remains unknown as of 5am.
