APPLE VALLEY, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> MCM Constructionhasannounced that the new Rock Springs Bridge is over halfway complete.
The nearly $19.2 million project is located on Rock Springs Road over the Mojave River, east of Glendale Avenue to west of Deep Creek Road. (see attached location map).
Construction company said, the bridge is two-thirds complete, with full completion expected in the first half of 2027 if the weather holds up and there are no major delays.
The project involves replacing the existing two-lane low water crossing over the Mojave River with a two-lane bridge. The new bridge will feature four-foot shoulders, a concrete-barricaded sidewalk with streetlighting on the south side, and drainage improvements to the roadway.
Info on the bridge is nearly 950 feet long, about 47 feet wide.
The new bridge aims to solve decades of flooding issues for commuters between Apple Valley and Hesperia, who are forced to take a nearly 12-mile detour and save at least 15 minutes, when the crossing is closed during a major rain storm.
Residents are encouraged to allow additional time in their commute schedule for possible delays and to drive with caution and reduce speeds through the work zone.
